Situated at the foot of the Himalayas with views of snow-capped peaks and gently sloping tea gardens, Darjeeling is known as Queen of the Hills. This northernmost district of the Indian state of West Bengal was developed as a tea-producing region when seeds of the Chinese variety Camellia sinensis (var. sinensis) were brought from Nepal during the mid-19th Century. It produces a thin-bodied, amber coloured infusion and delicate, fruity aroma which has earned Darjeeling the title, "queen of teas".

This season's second flush is reserved exclusively for No. 3 Clive Road at Sourenee Tea Estate:

Founded in 1902, Sourenee Tea Estate stretches across 130 hectares of the scenic Mirik Valley in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. Home to exotic flora and fauna, an optimum favourable climate and the indigenous character of its soil and environment, the estate was certified as 100% Bio-Organic in 2009. Claiming its unique geographical indication, a cup from Sourenee has its own story to tell.

Our Classic Tins aim to promote a handful of tea gardens from Assam, Darjeeling, Kangra and Nilgiris and bring the consumer closer to the producer of their daily tea. #KnowYourTea
